ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) unleashed Rs1,284.6 billion in customs duties for FY2024–25, a 16.4% surge from Rs1,104.1 billion last year, with petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) still reigning supreme at 22.7% share.
Customs formed 10.9% of FBR’s total haul, hitting 95.2% of the annual target. POL slipped 9.1%, yet vehicles charged to 13.4% share, fueling 41.1% of the growth explosion.
FBR data ties duty spikes to dutiable import values, exposing government’s heavy bet on high-value imports to prop up fiscal targets.
