ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has granted sweeping tax exemptions — zero sales tax, income tax, and federal excise duty — on over 2,403 Chinese-origin goods imported via Sost Dry Port exclusively for Gilgit-Baltistan consumption, via S.R.O. 2488(I)/2025. The special clearance demands consignment-wise online authorisation from a notified Gilgit-Baltistan authority in the Customs Computerised System. Collector of Customs dispenses benefits first-come, first-served within approved quota — excess triggers full taxes. Gilgit-Baltistan government must guarantee exclusive regional use. Collector can suspend exemptions during protests/blockades after regional consultation. Mis-declaration or leakage outside GB invites exemption withdrawal and Customs Act 1969 proceedings. Chief Collector (Enforcement) blocks onward transport. PCT codes face periodic review; separate procedure to split GB-bound from national imports. All import/export laws remain in force.
