Diesel Drops To Rs412.12, Petrol To Rs389.28 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD: Petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by up to Rs2.63 per litre for September 25, 2026, under Pakistan’s daily fuel pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products effective September 25.

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced from Rs414.75 to Rs412.12 per litre, marking a cut of Rs2.63. Motor Spirit (MS), commonly known as petrol, has also become cheaper, falling Rs0.84 from Rs390.12 to Rs389.28 per litre.

According to the Petroleum Division, the latest adjustment reflects developments in international markets, including changes in Platts rates, petroleum premiums and incidental costs. As fuel prices are revised daily, the new rates reflect recent movements in global petroleum prices.

Petrol and diesel serve different but significant functions in Pakistan’s economy. Petrol is widely used in motorcycles, cars and rickshaws, making it an important fuel for daily commuting, particularly for middle- and lower-income households in urban and semi-urban areas.

Diesel is primarily used for transporting goods and passengers, powering trucks and buses involved in freight and public transport. It also plays a major role in agriculture, where it fuels tractors and tube wells used for irrigation, as well as backup generators during electricity outages.

Since diesel is extensively used in transportation, agriculture and industrial activities, even relatively small changes in its price can influence transportation and production costs. These changes can eventually affect the prices of commonly used goods.
