NAB Recovers Rs423.5bn Karachi State Land

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has successfully recovered 350 acres of high-value state land in Karachi, estimated at Rs423.5 billion, following a detailed investigation into allegedly unlawful allotments.

The reclaimed land, situated in Clifton’s Block I and Block II, had originally been developed from the seabed and was reportedly allotted to private entities in violation of applicable laws and procedures.

The inquiry targeted senior officials of the Land Utilization Department (Government of Sindh), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and Karachi Development Authority (KDA). Investigators concluded that statutory requirements were bypassed and the land was allotted at nominal rates, causing substantial loss to the national exchequer.

Upon completion of formal proceedings, NAB Karachi secured cancellation of all disputed allotments. The land has now been officially restored to the Government of Sindh, with formal acknowledgment by the Land Utilization Department.

The operation was conducted in coordination with the Board of Revenue, Sindh, and authorities confirmed that timely intervention prevented onward sale or encumbrance of the property — thereby averting further financial exposure.

The development underscores increasing regulatory scrutiny on public land allotments, governance compliance, and accountability enforcement under Pakistan’s anti-corruption framework.
