Pakistan Plans Global Marketplace For SME Exports

Pakistan is preparing to launch a digital marketplace aimed at connecting small and medium-sized enterprises with international buyers as part of broader efforts to strengthen export performance and improve global market access for domestic businesses.

According to official reports, the platform is being developed by the Ministry of Industries and Production and will allow Pakistani SMEs to showcase and sell their products directly to overseas customers.

Officials stated that the portal will be designed in a manner similar to global e-commerce marketplaces such as Amazon, Alibaba Group and AliExpress. The platform is expected to provide integrated tools enabling businesses to promote their products, process orders and arrange delivery to international buyers.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to digitise the SME sector and enhance its contribution to national export growth.

During a meeting reviewing digital development initiatives for SMEs, officials examined progress on the platform’s development and discussed policy measures to strengthen the sector’s participation in international trade.

The planned online portal will function as a central marketplace where international buyers can browse and purchase Pakistani products, including items from sectors such as gems and jewellery, automobiles and other SME-driven industries.
