FBR Directs Fast Resolution Of Business Complaints

Rashid Mahmood Langrial, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, has directed tax and customs authorities in Karachi to expedite the resolution of business-related grievances raised by the local business community.

These directives were issued during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where stakeholders presented key concerns impacting commercial operations and liquidity.

Among the issues highlighted were delays in processing tax refunds, challenges associated with the payment of super tax in instalments, and procedural inefficiencies affecting day-to-day business activities.

In response, Rashid Mahmood Langrial instructed the Chief Commissioner of the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) Karachi and the Chief Collector Customs Appraisement (South) to prioritise and expedite the resolution of these matters. Relevant Inland Revenue and Customs officials have also been tasked with conducting a detailed review of the concerns raised.

He assured the business community that all legitimate refund claims would be processed in a timely manner, subject to compliance with applicable legal and procedural requirements.

The Chairman further reiterated that tax collection will continue strictly in accordance with the law and emphasised a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. He warned that any official found engaging in misconduct or creating undue obstacles for taxpayers will face strict disciplinary action.

Additionally, business representatives were encouraged to report instances of corruption within the tax system, supported by verifiable evidence, to facilitate prompt enforcement action.
