NCCIA Detains 212 In Islamabad Call Centre Crackdown

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has detained 212 people during a crackdown on illegal call centres in Islamabad that were allegedly involved in international financial fraud and online dating scams.

According to news reports, the suspects included Pakistani and Chinese nationals, both men and women, who were taken into custody during raids conducted over the previous 24 hours at three call centres operating in sectors E-11 and G-10.

During the operations, authorities seized 306 mobile phones, 383 computers and CPUs, along with 299 laptops and monitors.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspects allegedly contacted potential victims through online dating applications and developed relationships to gain their confidence. The victims were then reportedly directed towards fake online tasking and investment platforms that promised financial returns.

The NCCIA said the alleged network was involved in international financial fraud through Google scams and online dating schemes, with operational connections reportedly traced to India and Brazil.

As part of the operation, separate NCCIA teams raided the FFK Lodhi Call Center in G-10 Markaz and another facility on Street No. 40 near the Passport Office in G-10/4 on September 22.

Digital devices, electronic equipment and server data recovered during the raids have been taken for forensic examination.

The NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad has registered two cases under Section 14 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, along with Sections 419, 420, 34 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Investigators are continuing their probe to establish the full extent of the alleged financial fraud network and determine whether other individuals were involved.
