PRA Foodpanda Collaboration To Boost Tax Compliance

A delegation from Foodpanda Pakistan held a meeting with Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, Chairperson of the Punjab Revenue Authority, to explore measures aimed at enhancing tax compliance within Punjab’s digital food services sector.

According to officials from the PRA, discussions centred on integrating online food platforms and associated service providers into the provincial tax framework. The delegation from Foodpanda Pakistan expressed its willingness to collaborate in documenting the digital economy, promoting compliance among vendors, and supporting awareness initiatives regarding tax obligations.

Stakeholders emphasised that the utilisation of technology can play a critical role in reducing tax evasion, improving transparency in business transactions, and facilitating consumer convenience, while also strengthening revenue mobilisation.

Moazzam Iqbal Sipra highlighted that the promotion of a cashless economy and the expansion of digital services remain key policy priorities. He noted that collaboration with food delivery platforms would assist in bringing unregistered service providers into the tax net.

He further clarified that no licences issued by the Punjab Food Authority will be granted without prior registration with the PRA, reinforcing the requirement for proper documentation and compliance within the sector.

The Chairperson also underscored the importance of ensuring that taxes collected are duly deposited into the national exchequer and announced plans to initiate awareness campaigns in educational institutions across Punjab to promote tax culture and responsible compliance among the youth.
