FBR Suspends Six Officers in Silver Swap Case

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against six customs officials, including senior-ranking officers, following the emergence of substantive findings in the ongoing investigation into the silver swap case. The inquiry has identified elements of alleged involvement, administrative negligence, and operational inefficiency within the concerned personnel.

As per an official statement issued on Sunday, the suspended individuals comprise a Collector of Customs (BS-20), a Deputy Collector (BS-18), an Assistant Collector (BS-17), and three additional officials serving in BS-16 positions. These suspensions have been effected pending the outcome of further legal and departmental proceedings.

The FBR has confirmed that a formal criminal investigation is currently underway. Individuals determined to have direct involvement in the matter will be prosecuted under FIR No. 01 dated April 13, 2026. The authority further indicated that any additional beneficiaries or associated parties identified during the course of the investigation will also be subjected to appropriate legal action in accordance with applicable laws.

In order to safeguard the integrity and independence of the investigative process, the FBR has reconstituted the operational leadership at the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Quetta. Three new officers have been appointed, replacing the previous team, with a newly designated Collector and Additional Collector already assuming their respective roles.

The FBR reiterated its strict adherence to a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, emphasizing that accountability measures will be enforced uniformly across all levels of the organization. Disciplinary and legal action, where warranted, will proceed irrespective of rank or designation.
