NAB Hands Over Rs348 Million Confiscated Properties

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has transferred ownership of four confiscated properties, collectively valued at approximately Rs348 million, to the Directorate General of Estate under the Ministry of Housing and Works.

According to a NAB spokesperson, the properties had been confiscated from former Member of the National Assembly Abdul Aziz and his wife following their conviction in a corruption reference involving assets acquired beyond their known lawful sources of income.

An Accountability Court in Karachi, through its judgment dated June 28, 2002, sentenced both convicts to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each. The court also ordered the forfeiture of four immovable properties owned by the accused as part of the sentence.

Subsequent appeals filed by the convicts were dismissed by both the Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court, thereby upholding the conviction and the confiscation orders.

The confiscated assets comprise a residential house located in DHA Phase V Extension, along with three plots situated in KDA Scheme A-1 Extension and Hawke’s Bay Scheme 42 under the jurisdiction of the Lyari Development Authority.

The formal transfer of possession took place during a ceremony held at NAB Karachi on July 6, 2026, where Director General NAB Karachi Shakeel Ahmed Durrani handed over the properties to Director General Estate Obaiduddin.

Speaking at the occasion, Durrani reaffirmed NAB’s commitment to tracing, recovering, and restoring illegally acquired assets to the relevant government departments and rightful stakeholders, in line with the bureau’s ongoing accountability efforts under the leadership of NAB Chairman Lieutenant General (Retd.) Nazir Ahmed.
