KCA Awaits Possession Despite Sindh High Court Order

The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) has stated that it remains unable to regain access to its Exchange Building despite a Sindh High Court order permitting the association to retain possession of the premises and resume its business operations.

On June 18, the Sindh High Court directed that the KCA should continue occupying the building and conduct its activities without interference. However, according to the association, the court's order has yet to be implemented.

The Exchange Building was sealed by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on December 12, 2025, resulting in the suspension of the association’s operations.

KCA Secretary-General Aftab Ahmed said the closure, which has continued for approximately seven months, along with the seizure of official records and computer systems, has brought the association’s administrative functions to a standstill and significantly disrupted the businesses operating from the premises.

The affected occupants include cotton traders, ginning factories, spinning mills, and exporters that rely on the Exchange Building for their commercial activities.

According to the association, the prolonged closure has caused substantial financial losses for both the KCA and its stakeholders while negatively impacting commercial activity throughout Pakistan’s cotton value chain.

Established in 1933, the Karachi Cotton Association plays a key role in the country's cotton industry by publishing official daily cotton spot prices, providing arbitration services for commercial disputes, testing cotton samples, and delivering technical training for participants in the cotton and textile sectors.
