Petrol Price Cut by Rs9.41, Diesel Reduced by Rs5.56 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD: The government has reduced petrol prices by Rs9.41 per litre to Rs352.59, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs5.56 to Rs382.25 per litre. The revised rates will take effect from November 6, 2026.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced the revised ex-depot prices, stating that the reductions were made under the petroleum pricing mechanism approved by the federal government.

The latest adjustment follows another price reduction announced on Wednesday, when petrol became cheaper by Rs7.06 per litre, bringing its price to Rs362.00. HSD was also reduced by Rs3.71 per litre to Rs387.81.

The consecutive cuts are expected to offer financial relief to motorists, transport operators, farmers and businesses by reducing their fuel-related expenses.

Relief for Petrol Consumers

Petrol is widely used across Pakistan by motorcycle riders, private car owners, three-wheeler operators and other light vehicle users. Motorcycles and rickshaws play an important role in daily commuting, while petrol-powered cars are commonly used for both private and commercial transportation.

The latest reduction is expected to lower fuel expenses for millions of commuters, particularly those who depend on motorcycles and cars for their everyday journeys.

Lower Diesel Prices May Ease Transport and Agricultural Costs

High-speed diesel is a key fuel for Pakistan's transportation and agricultural sectors. It is extensively consumed by buses, trucks, trailers, tractors, harvesters and other heavy vehicles and machinery.

The lower diesel price could reduce operating expenses for public transport services and goods carriers, potentially bringing down the cost of moving passengers, food items, agricultural produce and industrial goods across the country.

Farmers are also expected to receive some relief because diesel-powered tractors and agricultural machinery are essential for land preparation, cultivation and harvesting. Reduced fuel expenses could help ease some of the financial burden on agricultural activities.

A decline in diesel prices may further lower transportation and distribution expenses, potentially reducing inflationary pressure on essential commodities.

However, the actual benefit for consumers will depend on whether transport operators and businesses transfer these cost savings through lower freight charges, fares and commodity prices.
