Petrol Gets Cheaper, Diesel Prices Rise in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has lowered petrol prices by Rs1.60 per litre while increasing the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.64 per litre, with the revised rates taking effect on Friday, October 23, 2026.

According to a notification from the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has updated the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government's existing fuel pricing mechanism.

Under the latest adjustment, petrol now costs Rs377.71 per litre, down from its previous rate of Rs379.31. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel has become more expensive, rising from Rs390.11 to Rs391.75 per litre.

The reduction offers limited relief to motorists, motorcyclists and rickshaw operators. However, the increase in diesel prices is expected to raise fuel expenses for transport operators, farmers and other consumers who rely heavily on diesel.

The Petroleum Division linked the latest price changes to international market developments, including fluctuations in Platts benchmark rates, petroleum premiums and related incidental expenses.

The revised ex-depot rates will remain applicable from October 23, 2026.
