Petrol Reaches Rs379.25, Diesel Rises to Rs395.82 Per Litre

Petrol Price Increases by Rs1.54, Diesel Up by Rs2.16 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has raised petrol prices by Rs1.54 per litre to Rs379.25 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.16 to Rs395.82, effective October 27, adding to the financial burden on consumers.

According to the Petroleum Division, the revised rates have been implemented under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. Before the increase, petrol was selling at Rs377.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel cost Rs393.66 per litre.

The Petroleum Division attributed the adjustment to changes in international market factors, including Platts prices, premiums and incidental charges.

The increase is likely to affect motorists, commuters and businesses that depend on fuel for transportation and daily operations. Petrol is commonly used by private car owners and motorcyclists, while diesel powers public transport, freight vehicles, agricultural machinery and other commercial operations.

The higher cost of diesel could increase transportation and freight expenses, potentially contributing to further price hikes in essential goods, including food, if businesses pass the additional costs on to consumers. The actual impact will depend on transport charges, operating expenses and market conditions.

The latest price revision comes as households continue to grapple with the cost of fuel, electricity and other necessities. Businesses that rely heavily on road transport and diesel-powered equipment may also face increased operating costs.
